FoodDrinkEurope speaks out against unacceptable fraud in processed beef products

FoodDrinkEurope has also highlighted that Europe’s food manufacturers will to work together with their food chain partners to protect the authenticity of meat and other ingredients used in the manufacture of safe, high quality, tasty and affordable food products and drink products for consumers.

As part of a proactive response to the issue, FoodDrinkEurope has provided comments and interviews to the Financial Times, Euronews and numerous other food industry trade publications.

Critically, a published letter from Director General, Mella Frewen to the Editor of the Financial Times responds to an article 'Demand for cheap food drives hard bargaining in global supply chain’ (16/17 February 2013).

FoodDrinkEurope has also been in continuous contact with all relevant partners such as the European Commission, EU agencies and national bodies. In addition, FoodDrinkEurope outlined FoodDrinkEurope’s points of view to the European Parliament committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee (ENVI). FoodDrinkEurope now awaits a special ENVI committee meeting and exchange of views with Commissioner Borg which has been scheduled for
